Celebrating Faith, Honoring History, Inspiring Generations
Each November, the Catholic Church celebrates Black Catholic History Month, a time to recognize the rich history, enduring faith and remarkable contributions of Black Catholics to the life of the Church.
Throughout history, Black Catholics have demonstrated extraordinary courage, perseverance and devotion to Christ, often overcoming significant obstacles while helping to build and strengthen Catholic communities.
The Diocese of Erie invites parishes, schools, families and individuals to join in this monthlong celebration. Together, we honor those who have come before us, recognize the contributions of Black Catholics today and reflect on how their witness continues to inspire our shared journey of faith.
