Parish Religious Education Policies

The Policies of the Diocese of Erie Office of Catechesis and Sacraments are currently under revision.  Please check with the Faith Formation Department for any questions you have on diocesan policies concerning religious education in your parish.  All policies remain in effect until the new polices are published or Faith Formation leaders are informed otherwise.  Thank you for your patience.

Some FAQs:
Q. Does my child need to attend parish religious education if they attend a Catholic school?  A. Children attending a Catholic school which is not in their home parish will prepare for and celebrate the sacrament in their home parish. Exceptions to this will only be made with the express consent of the child’s pastor.  Confirmation students must attend parish faith formation during the Confirmation year regarless of whether they attend a Catholic school or not.  Prior to the Confirmation preparation year, students must attend two years of parish faith formation, except those that attend a Catholic school during those two years.
